What is Included in the Fellowship

2024 Symposium Schedule

The 2024 Symposium will take place in Napa Valley from January 28-31. During our time together, writers will enjoy opportunities to network, learn and develop writing skills.  The program takes place at Meadowood Napa Valley, with a few offsite excursions. Each day will be filled with engaging conversations and discussions.

Fellows receive three nights’ accommodations at Meadowood Napa Valley from Sunday, January 28, 2023, with departure on Wednesday, January 31, 2023. Fellows incur no cost for programming sessions and excursions hosted by the Symposium. Meals during the Symposium are included. Fellows are responsible for transportation to and from the Symposium and for incidental costs, including any additional room and minibar charges.

  • Sunday, January 28: In the evening, we’ll officially kick off the 2024 Wine Writers’ Symposium at a welcome reception and dinner at Forum, Meadowood’s newest congenial gathering place with an atmosphere of relaxed refinement, for an evening of camaraderie and celebration.
  • Monday, January 29: A full day of conversation, mentorship, sharing, and learning will take place from breakfast through dinner. The sessions will be focused on the craft of writing from multiple perspectives, with an afternoon off-site session at a winery and/or vineyard. Small group dinners will be assigned and hosted by winery partners.
  • Tuesday, January 30: Another full day of conversation, mentorship, sharing, and learning will take place from breakfast through dinner, including another off-site excursion. A final Farewell Dinner will be hosted by a participating winery offsite, a chance for everyone to gather and mingle once more with members of the Napa Valley wine growing community.
  • Wednesday, January 31: We’ll meet for closing sessions from breakfast to late morning, with closing remarks and a final community toast taking place at mid-day.

 

Time Commitment

Your time at the Symposium will be fully committed as we maximize the time we have together. Each day, we will build in short breaks to ensure you have time to check-in at home.

Optional: Please note, there will be an option to arrive early for an enriching day of education about the Napa Valley appellation. On Sunday, Napa Valley Vintners will provide this educational opportunity that takes place from breakfast through late afternoon. Lodging More details about this optional excursion will be sent to Fellows and speakers separately.

 

Travel and Expenses

Transportation and meals will be provided upon arrival in Napa Valley for the duration of the program. Fellows are responsible for their own transportation to/from Napa Valley.

 

Lodging

Fellows and speakers will check in at Meadowood Napa Valley on Sunday and depart on Wednesday. An optional early arrival on Saturday night will be provided for those participating in the Napa Valley education day.
