Joseph Hernandez is the Research Director at Bon Appétit. He is also an award-winning writer and editor who previously served as the deputy editor of food and dining at the Chicago Tribune, and senior editor at Thrillist, SevenFifty Daily, and Wine Enthusiast. In his spare time (lol, as the kids say), he serves as vice-chair for the James Beard Awards Restaurants and Chefs committee and as a 2020-2021 fellow for both the National Critics Institute and The Poynter Institute’s Leadership Academy, organized in association with The Washington Post. His writing covers the intersections of food, wine and culture, published by the likes of Bon Appétit, Eater, Condé Nast Traveler, Men’s Health, and The Wall Street Journal, among others. He currently lives in Crown Heights, Brooklyn with his husband and their grumpy hedgehog, Hedgewig the Angry Inch.
