Dorothy J. Gaiter is Senior Editor of Grape Collective, an online magazine for which she and her husband, John Brecher, coauthor a biweekly column. She has been studying and enjoying wine since 1973. After long careers as award-winning hard-news journalists, the couple conceived and wrote The Wall Street Journal’s wine column, “Tastings,” from 1998 to 2010. In 2020, they donated their papers to the Warren Winiarski Wine Writers Collection at UC-Davis. Gaiter has had a distinguished career as a reporter, editor, columnist and editorial writer at The Miami Herald and The New York Times as well as at The Journal. The couple has written four wine books, including their memoir, “Love by the Glass: Tasting Notes from a Marriage,” and are well known for Open That Bottle Night, an annual, international celebration of wine and friendship.
