Dorothy J. Gaiter, senior editor of Grape Collective, is an award-winning journalist and author, who with her husband, John Brecher, conceived and wrote The Wall Street Journal’s wine column until 2010. They have studied wine since 1973, and written four books about it. She was a reporter, editor, columnist and editorial writer at The Miami Herald, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, which nominated her work on race and wine for Pulitzer Prizes. She won awards from the Newswomen’s Club of New York and the National Association of Black Journalists. She gave the University of Missouri School of Journalism’s commencement address in its centennial year. In 2021, the Hue Society created the “Dorothy Gaiter Journalism Award.”
