Original Essay*:

The original essay is an opportunity for you to write creatively and demonstrate your skills. Please answer the question: If wine were only art or only science, what would be lost? This piece should be previously unpublished and written originally for this application. To keep the review process fair and consistent as well as aligned with today's editorial demands, submissions may not exceed the word limit and will be automatically capped at 500 words.

Personal Statement*:

The personal statement is an opportunity for you to express both how you will benefit from and also how you can uniquely contribute to the Fellowship program. From your experience, tell us why this opportunity to be a Fellow in the Wine Writers’ Symposium is important to you and to your work. This should include parts of your story, identity, ethnicity, work experience, hardship, cultural aspects, and anything else that is relevant. Please do not include your name, or the names of any other people, organizations, or businesses in your personal statement. To keep the review process fair and consistent as well as aligned with today's editorial demands, submissions may not exceed the word limit and will be automatically capped at 400 words.

Professional Commitment*:

The professional experience demonstration will help the symposium ensure it is cultivating fellows who already have a demonstrated professional commitment to wine writing, while also embracing exceptional newcomers. Please list your two most recently published written pieces of wine writing. These can be published in print, online, in a magazine, newspaper, book, or on a blog. They must be in written form. Please list the title, publication venue, and date of publication.
