Axel Borg is the Distinguished Librarian Emeritus for Food and Wine, UC Davis Library. During his tenure at the library, he was responsible for selecting materials for the Food and Wine Collection at the Shields Library, home to the finest such library collection in the world. The collection comprises over 100,000 volumes in 52 different languages. While at UC Davis, Axel worked with Professor Maynard Amerine, the renowned professor of viticulture. Axel was the second author, on Professor Amerine’s last published work, A Bibliography on Grapes, Wines, Other Alcoholic Beverages, and Temperance: Works Published in the United States Before 1901.
